What is Bug Juice? Bug Juice is a remarkable insecticide paint additive designed to eliminate crawling and flying insects on interior and exterior surfaces.
What are the active Ingredients in Bug Juice? Deltamethrin 95.25% and Dimethyl-cyclopropanecarbonxylate 4.75%.
Where can Bug Juice be applied? Bug Juice can be applied on most interior and exterior surfaces, including kitchens and pantries.
Does Bug Juice repel bugs? Bug Juice does not repel insects; it is a contact pesticide. It begins to work after an insect makes contact with the treated surface. The insecticide in Bug Juice takes 1-3 hours to kill once it is in the insect’s system.
What kind of bugs does it kill? Bug Juice kills crawling and flying insects ranging from ants to mosquitoes and cockroaches to silverfish. What about Carpenter Bees? Bug Juice has not been tested on Carpenter Bees by the manufacturer. Because the insecticide in Bug Juice takes 1-3 hours to work once it is in the insect’s system, it may kill the first bee that starts boring, but once a hole is started there is no protection from other bees that continue to expand on the hole. If you are looking for a paint additive to deter Carpenter Bees, use NBS 30.
Will it affect the appearance of the finish? Bug Juice will not affect the color or drying time of the coating it is mixed with. However, it is known to significantly reduce the transparency and gloss of the clear Lifeline Advance topcoat.
What maintenance is involved? It is recommend that you hose off the treated surface with water twice a year. This provides a clean surface for insects to land on.
Does Bug Juice have an odor? No.
How long does the Bug Juice last? Bug Juice will last for the life of the coating it is mixed with.
What type of coating can Bug Juice be mixed with? Bug Juice can be added to any oil or latex-based paint, stain, or sealant. Though not recommended for use with Sikkens finishes due to a lack of testing.
Notes: Bug Juice should be used within 3 hours if it is added to a latex-based (water-based) coating or 6 hours if it is added to an oil-based coating. Otherwise the insecticide in the coating will die. Bug Juice is an EPA registered product.
